Below are some fun facts about Claude Beelman and Eastern:
Claude Beelman was an American architect who was born in Los Angeles in 1883 and passed away in 1963. He was best known for his work in the Art Deco style, particularly in the design of high-rise buildings. One of his most famous projects is the Eastern Columbia Building.
The Eastern Columbia Building is a 13-story Art Deco tower that was completed in 1930. The building was originally built as a department store for the Eastern Outfitting Company. The building features a distinctive turquoise terra cotta façade with gold leaf accents, and a clock tower that stands at 15 stories tall. The interior of the building is also decorated in the Art Deco style with terazo floors and intricate geometric designs.
The Eastern Columbia Building is considered one of Beelman’s most iconic works, and is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the United States. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, and was converted into luxury condominiums in 2005.
There you have it! Beelman’s Speakeasy Club. A nod to the amazing Eastern architect.

It’s that time of year again! The annual Regulation for testing of our fire life safety systems required by the City will take place Wednesday, August 10 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Unit access will be required for every unit to inspect the fire sprinklers. This inspection happens every 5 years. We will send an update as the date is closer to arrange for unit access.
If you’ve been here for the testing in the past, I’m sure you remember that it’s a bit of an annoying day – lots of alarms going off, people making noise in the hallways, intermittent loss of power in the common areas, etc. We’ll do everything we can to keep the nuisance to a minimum, but it’s a good day to plan activities outside of the building.
For those of you who will be home, the testing will last throughout most of the day, ending at around 5:00 p.m. The inspectors will begin on the Penthouse level and then continue down to each floor until completion.
Your telephone, satellite and internet connection will likely be lost during the emergency power test from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
